Lost In Life And Death

I was super stoked to pick this up recently, in fact it killed two birds with one stone not only the best looking press of the record but also a limited tour version too.

Backtrack - Lost In Life & Death

So yes here we have a tour version of Backtracks Lost In Life record. Cleverly titled here 'Lost In Life & Death' as its from the 2014 Life & Death tour.

Numbered 7 out of 125 the cover is just a wrap around of the existing record sleeve but being out of only 125 it's a great pick up.

I also think this third press colour of Purple and Black mix is the best looking press of the record too and a version of been meaning to get me hands on so that's pretty cool too.

When The Plague Clears

A couple of Bridge Nine favourites I picked up recently

Carry On - A Life Less Plagued

Despite being one of my favourite records of the early 2000's this is the first time I've owned Carry On's Life Less Plagued on vinyl. This is the second press on White of 1500 copies.

I'd not listened to this for a while and not in it's entirety for even longer so it was good to drop the needle on this and remember what a great record this really is.

When the record was originally released in 2001 it was intended to be a gatefold sleeve release but due to budget reasons this never happened. This 2nd press was finally given the layout treatment the record deserved. Looks good.

Foundation - When The Smoke Clears

Another Bridge Nine release I picked up recently was Foundation When the Smoke Clears. Again it's an album I know well but I didn't have the record previously. It was finally time to strike when I was looking for a record to add to a bigger order from Rev.

This is again the second press of the record. Despite looking Black in these pictures the record is actually on 'Translucent Olive' Green of 1000 copies.

Hold it up to the light and the colour changes quite dramatically as you can see. This record is also a gatefold and looks great too.

The Camel Clutch

Do you ever decide you don't like a band without hearing them? I do it all the time, although I probably do it less these days, I've had it bite me on the ass too many times over the years. It happened again recently. I'd decided I didn't like Iron Chic, I don't know why, I suspect it had something to do with their name and the artwork they use on their releases but what ever it was I didn't like them. No sir! Then one day recently I was at a friends place and some music was playing, a song came on that I was nodding my head to, I should have stayed quiet but I had to ask who it was didn't I? "Iron Chic" came the reply. Fuck!!

Iron Chic - The Constant One

So obviously I was then forced to check out the bands latest album online. Yep, annoyingly I liked it. I searched out a trusty UK distro that carried the release and just like that I'd just purchased an Iron Chic record. I still don't much care for the bands name or artwork but when the music is this infectious who gives a rats ass right?

Being stylishly late to the party I of course picked up the most common of the first press of the record. This nice looking half Orange / half Blue is out of 1000.

I now need to get stuck into the bands earlier releases too. I'd like to tell you that I've learnt from this experience and I wont be so hasty to dismiss bands in the future but after all these years I'm sure I'll be writing another similar post again before too long!

Can't Escape The Dog Pound Nation

I love Backtrack and Bridge Nine have just released a nice little taster 7" of two tracks - one from from Backtracks new full length 'Lost In Life' and one track which I presume is exclusive to this release . They did this with Expire just before 'Pendulum Swings' dropped and personally i'm a fan of this strategy. More records from bands I like...Winner!

Backtrack - Can't Escape

This was released on two colours Translucent Blue out of 700 and Clear with Blood Red Splatter out of 300. I picked up a copy of both obviously. Interestingly the Blue version was and is pictured as a lot darker on the Bridge Nine site, mine though is really light blue and looks more like a slightly darker coke bottle clear type colour to the naked eye. Wonder if there's a couple of different versions of the blue or if they just came back lighter than expected?

Musically this is more of the same of what Backtrack have been doing really well over the last few years and with this and the up coming full length the juggernaut shows no sign of slowing down. Great stuff!

You Can't Go Home Again

I never got into Have Heart's second album 'Songs To Scream At The Sun' as much as I had 'The Things We Carry', it's not that I disliked it, it just didn't get as much play time as maybe it should have done. When I saw this 7" a few weeks ago 'You Can't Go Home Again' though I couldn't help but pick it up as it looked cool and the yellow vinyl pulled me in.

I don't know what it is about listening to the two tracks on offer here but I finally get it. I think reading the story from Patrick on the inner sleeve of this record about where the songs came from and also hearing the two together like this out of context of the rest of the LP just suddenly brought them errrm home.
This is on yellow vinyl of 1000 copies

Step 2 Willems Rhythm

A few weeks back I posted about Turnstiles new 7" Step 2 Rhythm here. In the post I bemoaned not picking up the green version of the record at the same time I'd picked up the white version. The white version was more limited but I think the green looks better. Luckily Willem heard my whining and left me a comment saying he had a spare if I wanted it. I did want it and after a couple of emails we struck a good deal.

So thanks to Willem here is my copy of Step 2 Rhythm on Green of 1000 copies. In my last post about this record I was kinda getting used to the change of direction but I dunno, it stills seems a disappointment after Pressure To Succeed.

Willem being a top guy also threw in a couple of other records into my package that he had doubles of.

The Bridge Nine repress of Underdogs Self Titled EP.

This is the red first press of 1000. I didn't have this so it was a welcome addition to the collection.

Willem also chucked in a copy of this:

Inherit - The Crushing Wheels Of Samsara. I'd heard of Inherit but don't think I'd ever heard them before. This one caught me by surprise actually. When I first dropped the needle on it I was kinda like ' What the fuck is this?' but by the end of the side I was banging my head along to Long Forgotten Self. I like this.

The layout for this is ace and this appears to be the mail order edition and numbered 68 out of 100

Green Vinyl. Thanks again for the freebies Willem.

Antidote

My systems are down at work so I figure I might as well post these up quickly whilst I twiddle my thumbs.

Antidote are a band that have kinda passed me by in the years I've been listening to hardcore but I picked both of these up real cheap recently. No Peace In Our Time I picked up from a record store and Thou Shall Not Kill I threw into a bundle I was buying online.

The latter is the Bridge Nine press on white of 700.
