At least on this song the band remind me a bit of a less macabre and somber Alkaline Trio, which actually I'm okay with, as the missus loves Alkaline Trio and I've begrudgingly come to like some of their stuff.</div><div><br></div><div>On a side note I really like the centre labels Speedowax have used here. The last two records have had some serious play in Screaming For Records Towers let me tell you. So that brings us on to the new record Slaves Beyond Death. The band have taken quite a dramatic change in style on this record with some grander ideas and longer more slow building songs. I can understand why they wanted to have a stab at mixing it up a bit but so far I'm not really feeling this record, it just feels like a jump too far too soon. The vocals have changed dramatically to a more generic death metal roar and some of the energy and rawness has been lost completely. There's nothing bad here, it's just not really what I wanted from Black Breath, they seem to have lost some of that individuality and kinda just sound like another Death Metal band, albeit a good one.</div><div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgs3hAwcvmy8CfGOM930UM0Eqi9-WBjz6q0uldONKfncZ_hIBfql9NQJvnx6RWr32-DXfNwIfYd79N1dkBRqTecstl5Z0mnPXQJJKRG0Pub4iCZ5yVw4jGbjiBQ4DhFZumKsi5IpbpFwTU/s640/blogger-image--146730670.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgs3hAwcvmy8CfGOM930UM0Eqi9-WBjz6q0uldONKfncZ_hIBfql9NQJvnx6RWr32-DXfNwIfYd79N1dkBRqTecstl5Z0mnPXQJJKRG0Pub4iCZ5yVw4jGbjiBQ4DhFZumKsi5IpbpFwTU/s640/blogger-image--146730670.jpg"></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div> I say this a lot but in fairness I've not exactly listened to this a huge amount just yet and maybe over time some of the intricacies of the record will jump out more, but at the moment I'm just kinda underwhelmed. That's not to say I wasn't banging my head in places when listening but I could do that to any metal band.</div><div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhus2edugLWIwzkUcMQi98Kxzy-fL1NdVnN8eVT8HzFsfAB7_bKb-SA1JwH3XkgEyPmEVFPita1Y7rCGGIliZqv4w1RhmDwIWwGpVtLzYVqb41JPyhE5CSTWgRkHp5zwJESfpigd-L6uT0/s640/blogger-image-1363261301.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhus2edugLWIwzkUcMQi98Kxzy-fL1NdVnN8eVT8HzFsfAB7_bKb-SA1JwH3XkgEyPmEVFPita1Y7rCGGIliZqv4w1RhmDwIWwGpVtLzYVqb41JPyhE5CSTWgRkHp5zwJESfpigd-L6uT0/s640/blogger-image-1363261301.jpg"></a></div><br></div><div>Black vinyl only on display here as I bought this from an actual store rather than buying on line. I'm not sure what colour options there were but I think I've seen a sandy brown type colour version online. Far contribute Mother Mary to the release here. I say release, I'm not entirely sure this was ever actually for sale in stores or anything, I bought it years ago when I saw Far supporting Incubus at Rock City in Nottingham and think it was more of a promo. I'd gone to see Far in particular and I thought they were fantastic with Jonah later joining Incubus on stage for a rendition of Anti-gravity Love Song I believe it was. Considering this was maybe '97 it's surprising it was even given a vinyl press.</div><div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhMYwo36fiD9QIPNd1qCp0CKWrtDL0RWfYaw6y_uYtcAlCLEidk4mKS1EqiLXw5jvgfgfTmabfyJrYTpITPtBsTsJFRmOtoCNh2wAgs81u9BvTaNNYXyiGK93xYHPtU3Z5vKb8fvuN5Zg/s640/blogger-image--1477758365.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhMYwo36fiD9QIPNd1qCp0CKWrtDL0RWfYaw6y_uYtcAlCLEidk4mKS1EqiLXw5jvgfgfTmabfyJrYTpITPtBsTsJFRmOtoCNh2wAgs81u9BvTaNNYXyiGK93xYHPtU3Z5vKb8fvuN5Zg/s640/blogger-image--1477758365.jpg"></a></div><br></div><div>Let's see if I can find copies of the three (I think) vinyl releases from Far I don't have.</div>J@screamingforrecordshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02848308402184806295noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7430042864946490585.post-59870292673355755232015-10-24T06:34:00.001-07:002015-10-24T06:34:16.944-07:00Recent 7" round upHere's a batch of 7" records I recently picked up from eBay.<div><br></div><div><b>Ensign - S/T</b></div><div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjuG25hXI5KiNPhx5fibcU2K0vo27LPaMyyBoOxTc4fRigKop1e7EtaqASFH7Dtf7aHzkOrlMd2ZFvP54Dfg5rEtXecz5vpzttwSwWAFdpMzFPkN5eDJ7_nB4rT28X6Cy_jX4ye4x3BcPU/s640/blogger-image--1639828266.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjuG25hXI5KiNPhx5fibcU2K0vo27LPaMyyBoOxTc4fRigKop1e7EtaqASFH7Dtf7aHzkOrlMd2ZFvP54Dfg5rEtXecz5vpzttwSwWAFdpMzFPkN5eDJ7_nB4rT28X6Cy_jX4ye4x3BcPU/s640/blogger-image--1639828266.jpg"></a></div><br></div><div>It's been a fair old while since I've heard this record and I forgot how good Ensign where, Pale Horse in particular is a banger! </div><div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9Lu2iZkkYEe2dKs7G-MGHZGbODTlcmXzAB6u0ZMOdoBvPjo-P4c1a3dTO4KwiBuKuj6t29nBLdj9TNKa3L5eXiyPI_kmhdZ6ylaGT8aYY79zI6qQGAhyLT0GTaBtLCax5xxIiVIgVBkc/s640/blogger-image-896836607.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9Lu2iZkkYEe2dKs7G-MGHZGbODTlcmXzAB6u0ZMOdoBvPjo-P4c1a3dTO4KwiBuKuj6t29nBLdj9TNKa3L5eXiyPI_kmhdZ6ylaGT8aYY79zI6qQGAhyLT0GTaBtLCax5xxIiVIgVBkc/s640/blogger-image-896836607.jpg"></a></div><br></div><div>This is the Blue vinyl version of 429 copies that were released as a second press.</div><div><br></div><div><b>TouchXDown - Reach For The Top</b></div><div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWMvrQsEzXB0AzDTaKr62nA-MXvbY9dWCP25xLJR8lSk81ffqxaP_4hrgqA81SqcrzUx5vEv_BObrEDeTrgWPod06h0E7onRg5gChnOTNWKeYXNnIcT7pkuTobOcon6BZX7XBxp0-i1JU/s640/blogger-image--1682101644.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWMvrQsEzXB0AzDTaKr62nA-MXvbY9dWCP25xLJR8lSk81ffqxaP_4hrgqA81SqcrzUx5vEv_BObrEDeTrgWPod06h0E7onRg5gChnOTNWKeYXNnIcT7pkuTobOcon6BZX7XBxp0-i1JU/s640/blogger-image--1682101644.jpg"></a></div><br></div><div>Split release between Malfunction and Youngblood.</div><div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhu0NLeReNl5tBzaDA9b5C25HDvnntj_d2MMU8cLalSQzfeloMTNycHUikV5XulmhnlPp_eIi4o-zZQK9xJnh_3MLxb9VglNPDZp0AB_q-gGKpoZaaNZ372fhbny0SdNA3uNw9033G2MK0/s640/blogger-image-315747139.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhu0NLeReNl5tBzaDA9b5C25HDvnntj_d2MMU8cLalSQzfeloMTNycHUikV5XulmhnlPp_eIi4o-zZQK9xJnh_3MLxb9VglNPDZp0AB_q-gGKpoZaaNZ372fhbny0SdNA3uNw9033G2MK0/s640/blogger-image-315747139.jpg"></a></div><br></div><div>Gold vinyl version out of 500 Made.</div><div><br></div><div><b>Enough - Something We Can Build</b></div><div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZPWz2Zq1RJ4l2bEsNrDWBUrDjrQVwL-JavuRI_79rsqHn7_05VPqaKKUsFAi5J5ekFG-pVye36rVQWq0FdbrWAx_oq4Aoa3V08e4cnnqin4BlHTYojxlYefeyDP4dA0VTFQeHioAJTFQ/s640/blogger-image-103705012.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZPWz2Zq1RJ4l2bEsNrDWBUrDjrQVwL-JavuRI_79rsqHn7_05VPqaKKUsFAi5J5ekFG-pVye36rVQWq0FdbrWAx_oq4Aoa3V08e4cnnqin4BlHTYojxlYefeyDP4dA0VTFQeHioAJTFQ/s640/blogger-image-103705012.jpg"></a></div><br></div><div>I have a couple of versions of the Assault Records version of this record released in 2011. Then I throw a record on the turntable and the kids come into 'slam dance' but not before the eldest ones reminded the little one that 'there's no fighting in the pit' and I think maybe I'm doing ok. That's what happened when I gave this one a spin the other day. Anyway...<div><br></div><div><b>Turmoil - Anchor</b></div><div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLdrF04Wqj6B4mcyEpkoEB8ttBo24__mcAwa8BjcTZf48CVmFVF_Vehm2JIsjAVsHSfYYsxSk7y1uDGEPfOGbbFjLULlcJax7K6ltQvu6_4l8Ll74SMwnah1i9sOrfVzKitv2qbOQxboI/s640/blogger-image-15681833.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLdrF04Wqj6B4mcyEpkoEB8ttBo24__mcAwa8BjcTZf48CVmFVF_Vehm2JIsjAVsHSfYYsxSk7y1uDGEPfOGbbFjLULlcJax7K6ltQvu6_4l8Ll74SMwnah1i9sOrfVzKitv2qbOQxboI/s640/blogger-image-15681833.jpg"></a></div><br></div><div>Turmoil have come back into people's conscience recently and I must admit I've given 'The Process Of...' a fair few spins recently myself. This is the white vinyl version which I presume is more limited than the black version.</div>J@screamingforrecordshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02848308402184806295noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7430042864946490585.post-20158657753285761172015-09-06T04:26:00.001-07:002015-09-06T07:04:11.703-07:00An Angry SurpriseI think I mentioned a few posts ago that I've been listening to Downset a lot recently. As usual when you kinda go through a phase with a band again I started looking at their releases to see what I didn't have. I have a few of the 7" output but I didn't have a copy of the Anger 7" -probably my favourite Downset song - so I picked it up.<div><br></div><div><b>Downset - Anger</b></div><div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjT8aRmRsKaJvRHe5hsMh1IUIZ4BgPcsAvp0Z3JWV93T-90xzXfgtX4nP-Z6T-DiQyEtnuOqCuigkOxAS_NfZrNNYFEnFx4tUt-HKwQOxDjpg6Gtri8UQPLdb4Lpm12TI_9DXSN_TfYyXI/s640/blogger-image-568594447.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjT8aRmRsKaJvRHe5hsMh1IUIZ4BgPcsAvp0Z3JWV93T-90xzXfgtX4nP-Z6T-DiQyEtnuOqCuigkOxAS_NfZrNNYFEnFx4tUt-HKwQOxDjpg6Gtri8UQPLdb4Lpm12TI_9DXSN_TfYyXI/s640/blogger-image-568594447.jpg"></a></div><br></div><div>Boy am I glad I did. It's very rare at my advanced stage of life that I find something out or discover something about a band I've listened to for years that I didn't know, but with this release I did. I threw the record on to my turntable just to give it a quick spin really, I've heard Anger a million times so just wanted to make sure it played ok. Then as the second verse hit I had a real 'What the fuck?' Head turn moment. </div><div>Where Rey usually sings - '...and what does that fake know about mutha-fuckin South Central? Fool, what you know about a set or a sign, you fake mutha-fucker...' </div><div>I heard for the first time ever</div><div> '...and what does Rage know about mutha-fuckin South Central? Zack, what you know about a set or a sign, you fake mutha-fucker...'</div><div>I had no idea this original version had been changed for the album version of the song. Obviously, there was some beef between the bands (RATM) that they later thought better of. In fact listening back to the album version of the song I realised that it has quite obviously been edited to change these two words but I'd never noticed before.</div><div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhutiplZLUxu0CBIkWnDIkaiG9XX7j5avTu6ysLHqdixwm0Mgjtdqm7No9ATtVyrA_YjC4UA9TMkuqkoOBovUG9esZYpDmfb5O3HxAlCyON-C0I2MoXjRTxrhO5ohg0ZN2lk7LJa3BWry8/s640/blogger-image--1270267406.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhutiplZLUxu0CBIkWnDIkaiG9XX7j5avTu6ysLHqdixwm0Mgjtdqm7No9ATtVyrA_YjC4UA9TMkuqkoOBovUG9esZYpDmfb5O3HxAlCyON-C0I2MoXjRTxrhO5ohg0ZN2lk7LJa3BWry8/s640/blogger-image--1270267406.jpg"></a></div><br></div><div>So yeah, what was actually just a 'for the sake of it' buy actually turned out to be pretty interesting. The first was a total bust - what is it with record shops these days I mean who's actually buying records now? Whilst there is definately a revival in the number of stores they all seem to be peddling the same Beatles reissues and Lana Del Rey records at varying prices. In fact prices is an odd one, all three record stores I visited yesterday had one record in particular priced at £18, £24 and £32 across the three stores. Very strange. Yet the most expensive store had some records cheaper than the other two. Anyway I digress...</span></div><div><br></div><div><b>Mutoid Man - Bleeder</b></div><div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgb5EmNihG7aPqGbkkGZL7uu-2oumiX7baD8ZslFfnrEG_yU5RncwRDsCe_CVHky41V3i6RrecCLLzbYQTiZvJorWeLU30CDww48R7zbs7mZechFzAX3smPpwoDYPssNZv6sZVUlfMAbS8/s640/blogger-image--2118063846.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgb5EmNihG7aPqGbkkGZL7uu-2oumiX7baD8ZslFfnrEG_yU5RncwRDsCe_CVHky41V3i6RrecCLLzbYQTiZvJorWeLU30CDww48R7zbs7mZechFzAX3smPpwoDYPssNZv6sZVUlfMAbS8/s640/blogger-image--2118063846.jpg"></a></div><br></div><div>So into the second store and this one snuck up on me, I really liked the first Mutoid Man record but had no idea there was a follow up doing the rounds. I hadn't thought about this band for years in fact I couldn't really remember what they sounded like, I just knew that I'd once owned it on CD and they had something to do with Ten Yard Fight. Another 330 were pressed on purple.</div>J@screamingforrecordshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02848308402184806295noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7430042864946490585.post-6199964685432734372015-06-13T05:09:00.001-07:002015-06-14T05:31:22.391-07:00Pray For LightJI've slowly been working on my Coalesce and Converge collection so this record ticks both bands boxes.<div><br></div><div><b>Coalesce / Converge - Among The Dead We Pray For Light</b></div><div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGV7a_OgXniZ8rmdxr9epQQxwgi1KVfKgl66uE450EavtM40tQci8zQWqVJ8MJ0yHcImBQRw8dU1fK_eWbHtolsFOzU6aXwZHzgusCJn_S97AciMDw2eh_x2t82R0cdNtX5MwzCm1uk2c/s640/blogger-image-612468133.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGV7a_OgXniZ8rmdxr9epQQxwgi1KVfKgl66uE450EavtM40tQci8zQWqVJ8MJ0yHcImBQRw8dU1fK_eWbHtolsFOzU6aXwZHzgusCJn_S97AciMDw2eh_x2t82R0cdNtX5MwzCm1uk2c/s640/blogger-image-612468133.jpg"></a></div><br></div>I guess it's relatively rare that you love both bands on a split release so for that reason this is a pretty special record from 1997.
