Leeds Hardcore

It's all about the UK in hardcore at the minute and it's good to see another band from Leeds getting some love on both sides of the pond.

Shrapnel - Frenzied State

Quality Control Records do some brilliant layouts to go with their stellar releases and this is no different here. 320grm matte sleeve with a hole at one side and a big insert. Sweet!!!

This is the white vinyl version out of 200.

In the U.S, Triple B Records handled the release.

Sleeve and layout wise it's a bit overshadowed by the UK labels effort but it's still quality non the less.

Only managed to get the black vinyl release of this, truth be told I was just gonna make do with the UK press but Quality Control got some of these in too so I struck whilst I could. Quality Breakdown inspired UKHC!!

Triple Triple BBB

Here's three records I picked up from Triple-BBB a little while ago. I'd been meaning to pick them all up sooner but for some reason just didn't get round to it for a while.

Clear - Demo

First up the 2nd Pressing of the Clear 7" from 2012 on Clear Yellow of 400. I'd had this on my iTunes for ages but this is the first time I've gotten round to picking a copy of the record up.

Rude Awakening - The Awakening

I picked up a copy of Rude Awakenings The Awakening off the back of their side of the split with Death Threat, I liked what they did on that a lot and felt compelled to get a physical copy of this record. This is the second press on Clear Orange again out of 400.

Friend Or Foe - Outsider

And finally Friend Or Foe - Outsider. First pressing this time round on Clear Orange out of 500.

Rude Threat

A month or so ago I was making an order of I dunno five records lets say from a distro and once I'd ordered I got an email back saying one of the records was out of stock and did I want them to reimburse the price of that record or did I want to pick another? Shit, you know how it is, I'd ordered five records so you know I had my heart set on receiving five. So I told them to throw this in too.

Death Threat / Rude Awakening Split

Not long after suggesting the distro threw this in I remembered that Mario had written about this record and been disappointed with it, because of this I wasn't expecting a lot from the record and I didn't even listen to it for a while. Reading Mario's post again he's spot on with what he said. The Rude Awakening side of the record is really good, in fact it's over all too soon and it left me wanting more once the side had finished. Flipping over to the Death Threat offerings though it's a much different story. Musically Death Threat sound pretty good but the vocals leave a lot to be desired. Mario described the singer as sounding 'bored', to me it sounds like the vocals were recorded completely separately to the music as if the singer wasn't listening to the same thing. The vocals are just completely devoid of life, energy and aggression. A shame as I enjoyed the Lost At Sea 7".

I got the Red pressing of the record out of 700. It's the most common pressing but as the out of 500 pressing is Black I'm alright with that. There's also 300 on a nice looking Red and Black Swirl.

This record was worth getting for the Rude Awakening tracks so not a complete bust. Both bands have a nice spread on the inlay to the record too which makes up for the pretty dull ass cover.

Stick To Colour

I find that when I moan about not having a colour vinyl version of a record on this blog that one falls into my lap a day or two later. So, when I recently posted up my black vinyl version of Stick Together - Surviving The Times, I almost immediately spotted the Clear Grey version of 406 on eBay. I was never not going to win this. Easy score!

Such a great layout.

Surviving The Games

Weird. When I picked up Stick Together - Surviving The Times last year I could have sworn I'd blogged about it, I mean why wouldn't I? I really liked it. In fact even now as I write this I'm sure I did it before...

So in a belated fashion long after everyone has heard it and blogged about it here it is. Only the black version I'm afraid out of 924. Really good stuff though and I'd love to hear a full length from these guys. The whole packaging of this thing looks great actually.

Anyway, the reason I bring this release up now is that ever since buying it I've been on the look out for the bands earlier release No More Games. I hadn't been able to find one on these shores though until a few weeks ago when I finally scored it from eBay.

This release is quality too, probably not quite as good as Surviving The Times but there's not much in it. Because of my late purchase (this came out in 2010) I knew I was probably only ever gonna score a black version of this. This is the Control records release.

Americas Hardcore

Following on from my last post. Here's another record that I had no intention of buying till seeing another blog fiend write about it. Marcus is to blame this time. Honestly, I wonder how many record sales Marcus is responsible for because it wouldn't be the first time I've bought something after reading about it on his blog and I'm sure I'm not alone.

This is the Americas Hardcore Volume 2 Comp from Triple B Records. As I say, I wasn't going to get this but after seeing what Marcus had to say on it and seeing the way the comp had been treated by BBB with it's superb packaging and inlay booklet with every band getting a page like the great comps of old I couldn't help but feel like I wanted it.

This appeared with the Backtrack record in the GoTheDistance distro a couple of days later so it seemed almost written in the stars that I should pick it up and at a good price. Really glad I did now, this thing looks superb and as I've already mentioned I love the booklet that comes with it. All compilations should have something similar, it should be the law.

This is the blue version of the vinyl which although out of 1015 and the most common version actually looks really spot on so I'm all good with that.

This is a really good compilation. I was familiar with most of the bands but there's a few that I wasn't which is always the point of a good compilation to turn you on to new bands you may have overlooked.
