On Their Behalf

Over the last couple of years I've built up a fairly respectable Coalesce collection, it took me a while though to get round to adding their debut release to the haul.

Coalesce - On Their Behalf / Harvest Of Maturity

It's only the black version of the release, their is a coloured vinyl version too but I can live with that for now. There's something I like about this cover, it just looks so unlike a Coalesce release by the time you get to the artwork on their later stuff.

Coalesce Sets Fire

Is it really only myself and Marcus over at The Endless Quest that care about Coalesce in 2015?

Coalesce / Boysetsfire Split

I'm slowly working on my Coalesce collection, this cost a massive 99p from eBay and I was the only bidder. This is just the black vinyl version of the release. Marcus has an impressive colour vinyl and alternative cover collection.

I've never been a huge boysetsfire fan but coincidentally to picking this up a friend of mine has sent me a few links to live bits and pieces by them recently which has made me appreciate them a bit more.

Give Them Rope She Said

Continuing to make dents in my Coalesce collection I picked this up very cheaply a while ago.

Coalesce - Give Them Rope She Said V 2.0

This is the No Idea reissue of the 1997 debut LP Give Them Rope on Edison Records. This reissue came out in 2004 and was remastered and remixed and given the slightly longer title of Give them Rope She Said V2.0 by the band. It also features completely different artwork to the original record.

This is the white vinyl version of which 559 copies were pressed.

Pray For Light

JI've slowly been working on my Coalesce and Converge collection so this record ticks both bands boxes.

Coalesce / Converge - Among The Dead We Pray For Light

I guess it's relatively rare that you love both bands on a split release so for that reason this is a pretty special record from 1997. Two amazing bands contributing a track each.

This is the red version of the record I think, there's a pink version too and having not seen it I guess it could be the pink one as it has a pink tone to it. Either way I'm stoked to have a colour vinyl version. I believe either way it's out of 100 made pressing numbers wise.

I love when things like this are inside a record, mail order sheets/adverts. Remnants of a bygone era now really.

The Coalesce Kids

I'm always eager to fill in the gaps in my Coalesce collection. So recently I picked up a copy of this split 7" from 1997.

The Get Up Kids / Coalesce - Split

This release sees both bands cover a track by the other band. Strangely the tracks are then renamed, I don't know why and I don't know if I've ever seen that before either?!? Now, I don't mind the Get Up Kids, they have some decent songs but this is far from their greatest moment. Coalesce fair far better making The Second Place or 'I'm giving up on this one' as it's called here sound very much like one of their own songs.

I knew this release was available on about 13 different colours so was bummed at first to just be picking up a black one. That was until I took it out of the sleeve and realised it had stamped centre labels, the other copies if seen had proper black centre labels. Discogs seems to suggest this is a 1st Press version out of 300 sold on The Get Up Kids Fall/Winter tour of '97. Be nice if it was that version, can anyone confirm??

A Safe Place

Coalesce are one of those bands that I love but I rarely actually listen to them. I may have even said this before. Whenever I buy something by them and listen to it though, I remember how good they are and kick myself for not listening to them more.

Coalesce - A Safe Place

I picked this up off eBay a short while ago for pennies. Which is always fine by me. My Coalesce collection should be bigger really, I might put some effort into making it so soon. Featuring two great slabs of heaviness this is a good 7". Coalesce were really at the top of their game around this time.

This is the white second press of the record out of 300.

Patience for Impatience

I've slowly but surely been adding to my Coalesce collection over the past year. As much as I love the band the fact I've owned their stuff on various formats before means I'm just picking them up on vinyl as and when the mood or price takes my fancy.
This is the 4th Coalesce full length to be added to my collection but it's actually my favourite album by them Functioning On Impatience.
It looks fantastic too with a clear sleeve and card sleeve cover overlapping and combining to make a really interesting looking record sleeve. I've tried to capture that as best as I can below. No idea what pressing this is. Standard black vinyl but the cover more than makes up for that.

Coalesce - Last Call For The Living

Coalesce - What a great band. Much over looked in my eyes, every release from this band is a scorcher.

Anyway, this is the Last Call For The Living 10". It was meant to be the bands farewell of unreleased material, a thank you to the fans if you will when they called it a day in 2000. It isn't their final release because they have since re-grouped and put out the ace 'Ox' album but hey there ya go.
It's a weird one actually as this is the 'off center' press of which I believe there are 110 of this Strawberry pressing, although as there's also a 'Ooze', 'Hex' and 'Buzzsaw' pressing of the same colour and I have no idea what that means it could be more limited.

I think you can make out that it's off center in these pics, it's not just the center though, the whole thing is pressed 'off'.

The off center thing makes this really difficult to play as the record wobbles and moves about on the turntable uncontrollably and just getting the needle to stay on the darn thing is an exercise in patience.

In fairness it does say on the back cover that the 'record is not meant to be a record for 'listening' to as such, but rather for documentary sake'. The band are also the first to 'admit the first 3 demo tracks are horrible' and they really are haha.
It's a nice, fairly rare record to have in the collection though and also a bit of a novelty. Coalesce have always done their own thing and this kinda embodies that.
